UNODC supported countries in awareness-raising and advocacy for ending violence against women, including:

  • Ethiopia: Video promoting shelter and other services for survivors.

     

  • Nepal: Public service announcement and awareness raising materials on GBV disseminated in all 77 districts and through over 300 community radio stations, reaching over 6000 people.

     

  • Leone: 'Know your rights' campaign, supported by a joint UNODC/UN Women project and disseminated through TV, community radio and social media, to increase awareness of legal services and remedies for GBV and relevant legislation.

     

  • State of Palestine: Informational brochure on SGBV forensic medicine services in Palestine, and a promotional video on GBV services.

     

  • Uzbekistan: 'Voice of Girls' network, established to promote women empowerment and gender equality in the Fergana Valley.

     

  • Viet Nam: National communication campaign during the 16 Days of Activism and the national action month for gender equality and gender-based violence prevention.

     

    UNODC established the GLO.ACT Women's Network of Regional Champions against Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling, composed of female and male gender champions from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan.

    UNODC supported ICAT events to promote CEDAW General Recommendation 38 and advocate for survivor-centered approaches to address human trafficking and the non-punishment of trafficking victims.
