Last year the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) continued to raise awareness and build capacities to prevent and address violence and harassment in the world of work, both among its staff and in through its training provision.The elimination of gender-based violence is one of the ILO priorities of the ILO Centenary Initiative on Women at Work. The ITCILO has also been contributing to raising awareness on the current process that is expected to lead to the adoption of an international instrument on violence and harassment in the world of work. More specifically:1. In collaboration with Fair Wear Foundation we organized a Gender Forum on Violence and Harassment in the Garment Sector in Ha-Long Bay, Vietnam (October 2 – 4, 2917). The Forum was attended by more than 100 representatives from stakeholders in the garment sector from 7 Asian countries. https://www.fairwear.org/2017-gender-forum/2. In the framework of the ITCILO Gender Academy in November 2017, a workshop took place on “preventing and addressing gender-based violence in the world of work” , targeting representatives of the social partners (employers, trade union representatives, governments representatives) and NGOs. http://gender-campus.itcilo.org/academy/index.php?mod=program&act=detail&id=239

The ILO-GIP Project aims to reduce poverty and contribute to the empowerment of Myanmar women working in the garment industry by improving labour relations, social dialogue and gender equality. A report containing a gender equality assessment in several garment factories is expected to be released in September 2018.
